Veteran West Indies batsman Chris Gayle has escaped COVID-19 scare after attending Usain Bolt’s birthday bash. Meanwhile, Gayle will turn up for Kings XI Punjab in the upcoming IPL in the UAE starting September 19.

Incidentally, Bolt revealed that he had tested COVID-19 positive reportedly after hosting his birthday party. As per reports, the legendary sprinter hosted the event without following the social distancing guidelines.

The Universe Boss attended the event and had a chance of contracting the novel disease. However, Chris Gayle went through two COVID-19 tests, the result of which came negative. Gayle’s dream of playing in the IPL would have shattered had he tested COVID-19 positive.

Gayle took to social media platform Instagram to update the results of the tests. He informed his fans that he has tested negative and there are health problems as of now.

 “Couple days ago. 1st Covid-19 test.. Before travel I need 2 negative test,” one of his posts ready. In another post, Gayle wrote, “The last one went a bit too far in my nose. Phew. Result was negative,” he added. 

Furthermore, Chris Gayle promised his fans and followers that he won’t take any undue risks for the rest of 2020.

“I’m going to stay home for 2020… not gonna travel again… nah sah! Tan a mi yard!! Keep the change! Excuse me!,” Gayle added.

Chris Gayle will now be travelling to the United Arab Emirates to reunite with the Kings XI Punjab squad for IPL 2020. The southpaw has been with the Punjab franchise since 2018 and has done fairly well for his side.

The 13th edition of the cash-rich league will start from September 19 and will run until November 10. This will be the first time in the history that the grand finale will take place on a weekday. The cricketers will remain in a bio-secure bubble throughout the tournament keeping the COVID-19 in mind.
