CPL 2021: Aayush Geete’s All Round Show Help Shivai Academy Defeat VK Krishna Menon Academy On Day 3

After a thrilling morning session on Day 3 in the inaugural edition of the Cricfit Premier League (CPL), it was now time for the U14s to fight the battle at the Thakur Cricket Stadium in Kandivali as Shivai Academy beat the VK Krishna Menon Academy by 6 wickets in an absolute low scoring thriller.

It all started at the toss as VK Krishna Menon Academy won the toss and elected to bat first which didn’t really yield them the perfect start as VK Krishna Menon Academy lost both their openers Kinshuk Bharati and Aarav Malhotra in the powerplay.

What followed the wickets of the openers was even disastrous as Jay Vyas was stumped off the bowling of Manav Purohit putting them in a situation to bother. Soon Kshitij Pal was also dismissed for 26 who was again stumped but this time off the bowling of Hemant Gowda.

Aarav Malhotra’s Three Wickets In Vain As Shivai Academy Comprehensively Defeat VK Krishna Menon Academy in CPL

At the half way mark of the innings, VK Krishna Menon Academy were struggling at 65/5 when the trouble rattled up even more as they were bundled out for a mere 100 in just 17.1 overs. Hemant Gowda showered one of the best bowling performance of the day as he snapped 4 wickets in his 19 ball spell by giving away just 15 runs.

In the aftermath unlike VK Krishna Menon Academy, Shivai Academy had a fantastic start to the innings as openers Aaryan Tamatta and Aayush Geete launched a 76 run stand for the first wicket-taking them fairly near the borderline of the required score. Soon both openers lost their wickets in quick succession which was followed by the fall of another two wickets in no time as Aarav Malhotra ran a riot with his bowling show.

Since VK Krishna Menon Academy didnt really have enough runs on the board, Aarav Malhotra’s bowling effort went in vain as Anas Khan and Prem Parekh took the Shivai Academy across the target of 101 runs in exactly the same amount of overs, VK Krishna Menon Academy were bundled out for (17.1 overs).

Shivai Academy’s opening batsman Aayush Geete was adjudged the player of the match for his knock of 26 runs with the bat and for picking up 1 wicket by giving away 15 runs in his 3-over spell.
