Although a significant injury was thankfully avoided, the incident almost led to Charles being dismissed ‘hit-wicket’ due to his helmet narrowly avoiding the stumps. In the 12th over of the innings, during a match between St. Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders, an incident transpired when Dwayne Bravo delivered a full toss. The umpires conducted a brief medical assessment of Charles before permitting him to resume play.
Subsequently, Charles proceeded to compile a score of 37 runs off 31 balls throughout the match. His contributions aided St. Lucia Kings in setting a target of 167 runs for Trinbago Knight Riders to pursue within 20 overs. Pursuing this target, the Knight Riders found themselves dismissed for a mere 113 runs within 15 overs.
Following the game’s conclusion, St. Lucia’s captain Faf du Plessis expressed contentment with the outcome during the post-match presentation: “I’m pleased with the result. Naturally, it’s regrettable that I’m departing. We believed we could have amassed a higher score in the initial innings. Our focus was on maintaining composure.
Given their ability to hit sixes, we understood the challenge. Regarding my elbow, I’ve been playing with cortisone injections for two years. I’ve reached a point where it’s no longer beneficial for my body. My approach has always been to inspire and guide others on this journey.
