Virat Kohli is always the biggest attraction when team India tours Australia. Later this year India will play 4 Test matches, 3 ODIs and T20Is Down under. Earlier today Cricket Australia even announced a full-fledged schedule which has got everyone excited.

However, the Australian cricket board is uncertain about Kohli’s availability in the entire Australian tour. The Indian captain might not be available for the last two matches in the Test series as Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma are expecting their first child in January.

Will Virat Kohli Play In The Entire Australian Tour?

The Border-Gavaskar trophy will begin on December 17 at Adelaide and will conclude on January 23 at Brisbane. In the past, several cricketers have taken a break to be with their newborn. Now Cricket Australia are closely working with their government to allow the families to accompany the Indian cricketers.

We’re working through that at the moment with the BCCI and the Australian government. It will have to be a compelling case obviously for families to come,” Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockely said.

Meanwhile, as far as Kohli is concerned Hockely stated that the matter is for him to decide.

He’s in the squad … I think that’s a matter for Virat,” Hockely stated as quoted by Sydney Morning Herald.

Interestingly Anushka is currently in the UAE with her husband during the ongoing IPL 2020 season. If the Australian government gives the nod to families of the cricketers she might travel with him to Australia.

Virat Kohli will be leading the Indian side in all three formats. Kohli is one of the best players in the world and Cricket Australia will want him to be available during the entire tour. The Indian tour of Australia begins on 27 November with the T20I series at Sydney.
