Kolkata Knight Riders will be the last team to get their IPL 2020 campaign started as they play Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi on September 23. Ahead of the game, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik talked in length about the bowling attack he has in his disposal this season.

Kolkata made the costliest buy in the IPL 2020 auction by roping in Pat Cummins for 15.5 crores. The Australian pacer thus became the most expensive overseas player in the history of IPL. He will lead the KKR bowling attack heading into the opener. However, captain Karthik weighed in on his other options too.

“One of our strengths is the variety we have in our fast bowlers. I think all four Indian pacers are shaping up really well. It’s going to be a tough decision to select who is going to start and that’s something we are really aware of” Karthik said ahead of their opener against MI.

The Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik further said that his bowlers have different skillsets and are in a very good head space ahead of the first game against Mumbai Indians.

“They are very confident of their skillset. We are in a good space. One of the tough one for us is going to be picking the right eleven. It’s going to be interesting and tough and that’s a good sign.” said Karthik.

KKR as a bowling group was able to take just 56 wickets in IPL 2019, which was the lowest among all the teams. Kuldeep Yadav especially had a forgetful season picking just 4 wickets at an average of more than 71. Heading into the season KKR have him and Sunil Narine as their specialist spinners. The duo is likely to play every game and form a wicket-taking pair for KKR.

“They are very confident of their skillset. We are in a good space. One of the tough one for us is going to be picking the right eleven. It’s going to be interesting and tough and that’s a good sign” KKR coach Brendon McCullum opined on the chinaman.
