Kolkata Knight Riders’ pace bowling attack over the years has been a subject of debate. However, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head coach Brendon McCullum seems quite happy with the pacers in the squad this time around.

Led by Australian pacer Pat Cummins, they have Prasidh Krishna, Sandeep Warrier and the U-19 boys Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti in their ranks. They also have American-born Ali Khan, who joined the squad as a replacement of Harry Gurney.

“They’ve got a lot of talent. They work really well as a unit. I’ve been so, so impressed with the skills. They are different in the ways they operate which, tactically, is a crucial thing. There are a couple of superstars in the making in our line-up,” he said.

McCullum also spoke on the idea behind roping in Pat Cummins at such a huge price. KKR bought Cummins for a whopping 15.50 crores in the IPL 2020 auction. He thus became the costliest player in the IPL ever.

“Cummins was the key buy when it comes to overseas bowlers. For us, it was also about his ability to take early wickets. If we can do that, we know we have quality spinners. I am really content with the attack we’ve got” said KKR coach McCullum.

McCullum also spoke on the KKR spin attack led by Sunil Narine. he picked up six wickets in the CPL 2020. The KKR coach said that spin will come into play as the tournament proceeds further.

“As the tournament wears on, spin will come to the fore. We are very fortunate with our spin bowling group as well. Narine can bowl on any surface. I am very comfortable with the bowling attack we’ve got” said the former Kiwi skipper

Brendon McCullum will also have Kuldeep Yadav, the Indian wrist spinner at his disposal. He along with Narine can form a deadly combination. KKR also has Nitish Rana in their ranks who can bowl his off-spin. He has bowled for KKR in the last two IPL seasons and sounded confident of getting the job done in his interview with kkr.in.
