David Hussey, who has been roped in as the mentor of the two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders has termed Sunil Narine as arguably the ‘best T20 bowler in the world. In an interaction with PTI, the KKR mentor hailed the Windies mystery spinner for his services for KKR over the years.
Meanwhile, Narine is fresh off a title-winning season for Tribago Knight Riders, who won their fourth CPL trophy beating the St Lucia Zouks in the final. Personally, the season was a fruitful one for Narine with the ball. He picked six wickets from five matches and also were among the bowlers with the best average and economy.
Narine best T20 bowler – David Hussey
Narine had an average of 15.17 and an economy of 4.55 in CPL 2020. Praising highly, David Hussey said that Sunil Narine will be extremely difficult to handle in the pitches of UAE.
“Narine arguably is the best T20 bowler in the world. In any condition, he is one of the best players to have. Fortunately, he is at KKR, and he’ll be at his most difficult self to play and handle”, Hussey told PTI.
Sunil Narine who has been with the side since 2012, has taken 122 wickets, which is the most by any KKR bowler. The former Australian cricketer also showed faith in his main man saying Narine will win more game for Kolkata.
“He will be one of the bowlers’ captain DK will throw the ball to whenever the opposition has the momentum. I’m sure Sunil Narine will win more often than not, those close battles ” Hussey further added on Narine’s role for the side in IPL 2020.
Going into the IPL 2020, with a lot of match practice, Narine as always will be the lead spinner in the side. He will have the likes of Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarty for company.
Narine played a key role in both the title-winning seasons for KKR (2012, 2014). He picked up 24 wickets in 2012 to go with 21 in 2014. His batting will also be key in providing quick starts for Kolkata.
Meanwhile, Sunil Narine will have a new partner in Shubman Gill at the top of the order with Chris Lynn being released by the franchise in the IPL 2020 auctions.
