Popular commentator Harsha Bhogle wants CSK to buy Rahane, to stem their middle-order which has been struggling so far in the tournament. Ajinkya Rahane has played just a solitary game so far Delhi Capitals in this IPL season. He scored run-a-ball 15 and did not look in good touch during his stay at the crease.

Delhi’s openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw doing a commendable job at the top has kept the IPL veteran out of the playing XI in the first half of the tournament. Notably, Ajinkya Rahane was traded by Delhi Capitals ahead of the start of the tournament. However, Rahane has not fit into the scheme of things in DC’s playing XI. Meanwhile,

Meanwhile, television commentator Harsha Bhogle has backed Chennai Super Kings to go for Ajinkya Rahane in the mid-season transfer. Chennai has been struggling to sort out their batting line-up on the tournament so far. They have failed to chase down totals on five occasions out of the seven games they have played so far in the tournament.

“How’s this for a mid-season transfer thought: #CSK desperately need a quality top-order batsman. Ajinkya Rahane desperately needs a game. Ajinkya Rahane is not getting a game. #MidnightThoughts” Harsha Bhogle wrote.

Meanwhile, a Delhi Capitals official has thrown more light on the matter. He told ANI that since Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw has been performing well for the franchise this season, Ajinkya Rahane has not got his chances.

“You have to understand that whatever is being said on social media cannot be the criteria for team selection. Rahane is a brilliant player and brings in a lot of experience with him. But the simple point is that Dhawan and Shaw have been outstanding at the top.”

The official further said that Rahane will have to wait for his chance given that Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar have been performing really well for Delhi Capitals this season.

“You do not fix something that isn’t broken. Also, you would realise we have looked to continue with players who we believe in over the last two seasons. Dhawan and Shaw are proven performers for us. Rahane will have to wait for his turn to be honest,” the official said.

In 2019, Ajinkya Rahane played 14 IPL matches for the Royals and scored 393 runs at an average of 32.75. He also led the team briefly before Steve Smith replaced him as the captain of the side.
