Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja has been Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) indivisible part so far. The star all-rounder has played several vital knocks with the bat and has bowled match-winning spells for the franchise. Considering Jadeja’s undeniable primacy, he was declared as the CSK skipper after MS Dhoni had announced his decision of stepping down from the position, ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season.

However, Jadeja, the skipper, could not sustain for long as the team lost six out of eight encounters under his leadership. Also, the responsibility somehow affected Jadeja’s individual performance as the 33-year-old scored 116 runs and captured five wickets in 10 games that he played, before an injury led Jadeja way, out of the tournament. CSK too then, went on to finish the tournament at ninth position in the points table, despite Dhoni taking charge after Jadeja’s retreat.

Later, rumors of the rift between Jadeja and the franchise started to flow as he recently (July 9) deleted all the posts related to the CSK from his official Instagram handle. Jadeja’s this act created doubts over his future with the franchise. Furthermore, a CSK official, however, cleared the air around the matter stating that there’s nothing wrong between the two sides.

Following the course, Jadeja again, on July 18, charged up the rumors, as the lefty all-rounder shared a confusing quote on his Instagram story saying: “Don’t lower your standards for anyone or anything. Self respect is everything.”

The meaning of the quote and the reason behind sharing it has put the CSK fans in turmoil. On the very next day, the CSK fans started a trend on Twitter, requesting Jadeja not to leave the Super Kings family. The Twitteratis had nothing but praise for the excellent fielder.

Besides, Dhoni has confirmed that he will be leading the ‘Men in Yellow’ in the 2023 IPL season. While, Jadeja, for now, is the vice-captain of the Indian ODI side on the Caribbean tour.
