One of the best batsmen Pakistan has ever produced Mohammad Yousuf makes a shocking claim stating the current crop of Indian players doesn’t have the class of Sachin Tendulkar or Rahul Dravid. He feels that current teams in the world doesn’t have quality players in the side like it used to be in previous eras.

India and Pakistan’s rivalry was at its finest during their playing days and added that India had some of the best players during that generation. He also revealed that other teams like Australia and South Africa too had some of the biggest stars.

In the past, there used to be quality players – Mohammad Yousuf

In India, Mohammad Yousuf pointed out that there was a host of good players including Sachin, Dravid. And also, Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh. He believes that the current Indian team doesn’t have such a quality players in the side.

“In the past, teams, such as India, Australia and South Africa, had three-four quality players in the side. India, for example, had players like (Rahul) Dravid, Sachin, Sehwag. Ganguly, Laxman and Yuvraj Singh. These six batsmen were playing in a single team,” said Yousuf during a TV show as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

“The current Indian team does not have such batsmen. You can’t compare the current players (such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma) with the class of Sachin and Dravid,” he said.

It is a surprising claim, as Kohli is currently rated as the best batsman in the world and is the second-highest run-scorer for India of all time with 11,867 runs in 248 matches at an average of 59.33 in the ODI cricket and even is ahead of the likes of Dravid, Ganguly, and Yuvraj despite having played far lesser ODIs than them.
