5. India versus Pakistan, Semi-final, 2011
India took on Pakistan in the semi-finals of 2011 World Cup played at PCA Stadium, Mohali on 30th March. Indian captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first. Sachin Tendulkar was the top scorer with 85, Virender Sehwag 38, Suresh Raina 36 not out off 39 balls helped India post 260 for 9 in 50 overs. For Pakistan, Wahab Riaz was the pick of bowlers with 5 for 46.
Defending the target of 261 runs to win, Hafeez and Kamran Akmal got off to a decent start adding 44 runs. Indian bowlers were outstanding in keeping wickets at regular intervals. Despite Misbah-ul- Haq 56, India bowled out Pakistan for 231 in 49.5 overs. Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh took 2 wickets each. India progressed into the finals and eventually won the 2011 World Cup.
