The future of the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 and the Indian Premier League hang by the wire in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. If ICC decides to postpone the global event, the window will open for the cash-rich league. Ace batsman David Warner along with other Aussies are upbeat to play IPL if T20 World Cup doesn’t take place.

A lot of debates have been going around on the future of T20 World Cup. Recently, Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings said that hosting the global event is an unrealistic dream. On the other hand, BCCI is keenly waiting for the global body to reveal his decision on the future of the tournament.

Meanwhile, reports suggest BCCI is planning to host IPL 2020 from September 26 if T20 World Cup doesn’t go as per plan. Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner said they are hopeful of playing in the IPL if the global event doesn’t happen.

“.and if it is unlikely if the World Cup can’t go ahead, then I am very sure and positive that we will be able to come and play in the IPL if that replaces the World Cup schedule,” India Today quoted Warner saying.

“If that permits us from Cricket Australia giving the go-ahead to go over there, I am sure we will put our hands up and come and play cricket which at the end of the day is what we love,” he added.

Previously, David Warner had said that hosting the T20 World Cup would be a tough ask. Australian Government will be strict on their policy and won’t allow the coronavirus curve to rise again. He said everybody is waiting for ICC’s decision on the matter.

“Look, there has been a lot of talk about the T20 World Cup being postponed, the challenges around getting every single nation that participates in the World Cup into Australia, given the fact that we have the quarantine for 14 days.

We have to obviously abide by those rules and obviously we await the decision from the ICC,” said Warner.
