As per reports circling in the media, an official from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) might be involved in betting controversy in IPL 2021. The racket was busted by Delhi police found that that DDCA had two more people involved in the controversy were part of the housekeeping staff at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi The match on which the bet was placed was between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.

Only 40 persons were registered with the DDCA as the staff which oversees housekeeping, but it has been uncovered that 42 people were allowed inside the Arun Jaitley Stadium during the IPL 2021 tournament. Incidentally, Delhi police two persons for indulging in ‘betting’ during the said match.

On May 3, Delhi Police nabbed two supposedly IPL “accredited” individuals for illegally entering Arun Jaitley Stadium. The two accused who were arrested were Krishan Garg and Manish Kansal who were taken into custody after they were not able to give satisfactory answers to the queries of the police officers.

DDCA Official Arrested With Betting Allegations In IPL 2021

Shabbir Hussain Khandwawala, head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Anti-Corruption Unit (BCCI ACU), told IANS in an interview on Thursday, that he believed DDCA was responsible for providing accreditation to the two individuals who had entered the stadium for the “purpose of betting”.

“There were 40 persons who had the permission to get into the Arun Jaitley Stadium for housekeeping during IPL matches at Delhi’s Aun Jaitley Stadium. However, these two individuals, who were arrested by Delhi Police, managed to get into the stadium” said one of the DDCA officials.

He further said that the Delhi police are investigating further into the matter and the case currently lies with DDCA Administrator Neeraj Sharma who is looking into the matter with keenness.

Meanwhile, another case of betting and match-fixing from the same match was reported to be executed in a Mumbai hotel. The three accused bookies namely Ayushi Kesarkar, Chetan Salecha and Parvesh Bafna were running a betting network from the same hotel where the Rajasthan Royals team 2021 was staying during its Mumbai leg. The police have confiscated INR 97,000, 8 mobile phones, 1 laptop and a vehicle from the bookies.

BCCI ACU chief, Shabir Hussein Shekhadam Khandwawala said that the ACU officers had a tip-off that three people had checked into the hotel, where the Rajasthan Royals team 2021 was staying. The bookies made attempts to reach the players and support staff but couldn’t succeed due to strict bio-bubble regulations.
