Team India all-rounder Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs against South Africa. Chahar had a stiffness in his back during the third T20I against South Africa and didn’t feature in the first ODI in Lucknow on Thursday, October 6.
Chahar recently made his return from a long injury layoff during the ODI series in Zimbabwe. He featured in just six matches – four T20Is and two one-dayers – before being ruled out of the series.
The all-rounder from Rajasthan was one of the standby pacers for India’s T20 World Cup campaign. He was one of the front-runners alongside Mohammed Shami to replace Jasprit Bumrah in India’s T20 World Cup squad.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Washington Sundar and Deepak Chahar’s replace for the remaining two fixtures.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee named Washington Sundar as replacement for Deepak Chahar for the remainder of the ODI series against South Africa. Mr. Chahar had a stiffness in his back after the third and final T20I against South Africa in Indore and did not feature in India’s Playing XI in the first ODI in Lucknow,” BCCI said in a statement.
