Delhi Capitals (DC) have reportedly cancelled their plan scheduled travel to Pune for their next IPL 2022 fixture in the wake of the COVID-19 scare in the camp. Earlier, team’s physio Patrick Farhart had earlier been isolated after testing positive for the novel coronavirus.
Incidentally, the Delhi contingent were scheduled to travel to Pune today for their next game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Instead, they will be quarantined in their rooms with door-to-door Covid-19 tests scheduled for today and tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket Association (BCCI) is yet to make any official comment on the same. The governing council has adopted strict measures to combat cricketers attracting the COVID-19 after it forced the BCCI to postpone the tournament midway last year. They had to reschedule it in October in the UAE.
Delhi Capitals go down against RCB in their last game
Batting first, riding on Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed’s unbeaten 97-run stand for the sixth wicket, Bangalore posted 189 runs on the board, Karthik once again produced a masterclass, smashing an unbeaten 66 off just 34 deliveries. Shahbaz also played a good hand, chipping with 32* runs.
In reply, David Warner kept Delhi in the game with a blazing half-century but Bangalore managed to chip in with wickets at regular intervals. Josh Hazlewood picked up three wickets while Mohammed Siraj scalped two to derail the Capitals and secure their fourth win of IPL 2022.
Delhi’s middle-order batting has been a concern for them. They relied heavily on West Indies all-rounder Rovman Powell, but he has failed to deliver. Lalit Yadav also struggled to achieve consistency while Mitchell Marsh addition in the last game also didn’t make much of a difference.
Delhi Capitals are now eighth in the IPL 2022 points table with only four points in five game.
