It’s IPL season and all eyes are set on the biggest T20 league in the world which will commence from September 19 in the UAE. Delhi Capitals have signed fast bowler Anrich Nortje as a replacement for Chris Woakes ahead of IPL 2020. The South African fast bowler has replaced Woakes after he had earlier chosen to pull out of IPL this year to keep himself fresh for the English summer.

The Englishmen will not be able to join the team despite the post-pandemic schedule shuffle after being replaced. Delhi Capitals had acquired Chris Woakes at his base price of R. 1.50 crores in the last IPL auction.

Meanwhile, Nortje who was due to represent Kolkata Knight Riders in 2019, was unable to feature in the league due to a shoulder injury. The speedster later also picked a thumb injury that rules him out of the Cricket World Cup 2019 in England last year.

“I am excited to join the Delhi Capitals, a team that was the talk of the tournament last season. “With its exciting mix of experienced and young players and a stellar coaching line up, there is no doubt this is going to be a massive learning experience for me. I am grateful to the Delhi Capitals management for giving me this opportunity”, Nortje said.
