Pakistan players are never far away from being involved in a match-fixing scandal. With cricket taking a back seat due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ex-players of Pakistan are coming up with claims almost daily. Another addition to this is the former Pakistan player Aaqib Javed. The former cricketer has said that he thinks the chief den of match-fixing is in India.
Aaqib, who played for Pakistan in the 1990s was overshadowed by the likes of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. Even though he did not play for long, he managed to make headlines in 1991 against India. Aquib Javed, back then at the age of just 19 he became the youngest bowler to take a hat-trick in international cricket.

In his recent interview with Pakistan television channel Geo News, the fast bowler raised questions on IPL games. He thinks that match-fixers fix matches on a very large scale in India. Aaqib claimed that players like him who raise their voices against corruption in Cricket, have to face its repercussions.
Aaqib stated “Questions have been raised on games in the IPL and I think the den of match-fixing is in India. Those who blow the whistles against match-fixers hurt their own careers”.

The 47-year-old also shared his disappointment over the fact that why Pakistan Cricket Board, is still giving chances to players who were involved in match-fixing. Aquib Javed also revealed that he used to receive death threats from various unknown people if he didn’t fix matches during his playing days. He mentioned that even though Pakistan had match-winners in the 90s, but yet players were performing badly in the tournament including the Singers cup.
“The team had great potential back then but yet they were seen underperforming in many events, including the Singers cup”, he concluded. Earlier Aaqib Javed had made a revelation that Wasim Akram his former captain, had kept him outside the team during his playing days when he denied fixing matches.
