Indian journalist Boria Majumdar has said that he will serve celebrated cricketer Wriddhiman Saha a defamation notice in connection with recent allegations made by the India wicketkeeper.

In a video shared on social media, Boria claimed that the WhatsApp chat that Saha had put out was a doctored version of an exchange between the two. In an 8 minute 36 seconds-long video in which he explained how the cricketer blurred a few parts of the text message, he had sent asking for an interview.

“There are always two sides to a story. @Wriddhipops has doctored, tampered screenshots of my WhatsApp chats which have damaged my reputation and credibility. I have requested the @BCCI for a fair hearing. My lawyers are serving @Wriddhipops a defamation notice. Let truth prevail,” the journalist tweeted.

Incidentally, last month, Wriddhiman Saha had put out a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat where a journalist was seen threatening him of repercussions for not adhering to an interview. Saha has not named the journalist who allegedly threatened him but said on Saturday that he’d told the BCCI the details of the incident.

“I have told the committee everything I know. I have shared all the details with them. I can’t tell you much right now. BCCI has asked me not to talk about the meeting outside as they will answer all your queries,” Saha told reporters after appearing before the board vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and IPL governing council member Prabhtej Bhatia.

Wriddhiman Saha dropped from India’s Test squad

With Rishabh Pant establishing himself as India’s first-choice wicketkeeper, and Srikar Bharat rising through the ranks, the 37-year-old Saha was dropped from the Test squad for the ongoing Sri Lanka series.

The Bengal cricketer, who has played 40 Tests, was told by head coach Rahul Dravid that the team would be moving on from him and that he could make a decision on his career.

A couple of days back he was demoted from Group B (INR 3 crore salary) to Group C (INR 1 crore) of the BCCI central contracts list.
