Simon Doull, a New Zealand commentator, has poked fun at Pakistan captain Babar Azam over the pitch used at the National Stadium in Karachi for the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) match between Pakistan and New Zealand.

Many cricket experts have recently questioned the pitch in Karachi, and Simon Doull has now joined the list. While providing commentary for the aforementioned Test, he stated:

“When it comes to the Test match, it is completely different. Where does this directive come from? Does it come from Babar who wants to bat on a road and improve his own stats? Does it come from above him?”

The current Test is the final of Pakistan’s home season in 2022/23. Fans should be aware that while Pakistan captain Babar Azam was the leading run-scorer in Tests last year, his team failed to win a single match on home soil.

The two-match WTC series between Pakistan and New Zealand is level at 0-0 following a draw in the first Test.

The fourth day of the last test match ended with the visitors declaring at 277-5 giving the hosts a target of 319 runs to chase on the last day in order to win the test match and the series. Unfortunately, the hosts didn’t get off to an expected start in the run chase and lost two quick wickets without scoring a run in the three overs they batted.

Abdullah Shafique and Mir Hamza were both dismissed for ducks by Tim Southee and Ish Sodhi. Pakistan has a steep chase to fulfil on the last day if they want to end their recent winless streak at home. The Kiwis will look forward to continuing this momentum on the final day.
