Pakistan registered a convincing win over India in their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Although Virat Kohli scored fifty, Team India managed 151/7, which Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan successfully chased down with 2.1 overs to spare.

However, the ICC has recently shared a video where Mohammad Rizwan can be seen practising shots. Surprisingly, he executed all those shots in the game against India as well.

As far as the game is concerned, Shaheen Afridi provided his team with a brilliant start by dismissing Rohit Sharma on a duck. He returned in his second over and removed KL Rahul as well. India posted 151 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Virat Kohli scored 57 whereas Rishabh Pant scored 39. Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed 3 for 31 whereas Hasan Ali picked up 2 as well.

While chasing, Pakistan successfully managed to reach the target without losing a wicket and 2.1 overs in hand. Babar Azam scored a 52-ball 68 whereas Mohammad Rizwan smashed a quickfire 79 off 55 with 6 fours and 3 sixes as well.

After the win, Pakistan captain Babar Azam said: “We executed our plans well and the early wickets were very helpful. Shaheen’s wickets gave us a lot of confidence and the spinners dominated as well. The plan with Rizwan is always to keep it simple. We tried to get deep in the crease and from about the 8th over the dew came in and the ball came on nicely.”

He continued: “This is just the start, we have confidence to build on now. It will remain match by match for us. The pressure on us wasn’t that much – we weren’t thinking of the record against India at all. I only wanted to back all our players who’ve been preparing well. When you play tournaments before a big World Cup, it helps and our players came in with a lot of confidence because of that.”

The Player of the match, Shaheen Afridi said: “This is the first time we’ve beaten India and I feel proud. I knew it would be good for us if I got early wickets and that worked out. My idea was to get as much swing as possible. You don’t get a lot here, but I wanted to get those breakthroughs and gave it 100%. In my opinion the new ball was a difficult to play, so credit goes to Babar and Rizwan. All the teams are difficult at the World Cup, we’ll try to take this momentum forward and make the final.”
