Ehsan Mani Says Asia Cup 2020 Venue Yet To Be Finalized

Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ehsan Mani has contradicted Sourav Ganguly's claim for the Asia Cup to be held in Dubai instead of Pakistan.

The relationship between both countries has always been stringent and the relationship between the two nations has led to no cricket matches between the two nations. The last time India played a bilateral series against Pakistan was in 2012, since then both the countries haven't played a bilateral series.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had held the rights of hosting the Asia Cup in 2020. However, BCCI refused to send the team for Asia Cup if the tournament was held in Pakistan. International cricket has been a distant thing in Pakistan as very few countries in the last few years have toured Pakistan. Pakistan has played Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at home in the past year.

It is also for the first time that the whole season of Pakistan Super League will be held in Pakistan.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly earlier said that Asia Cup will be played in UAE instead of Pakistan. Which was contradicted by the President of PCB, who contradicted the claims and said "The Asia Cup is organized for the benefit of the Associate Members. We will take a decision keeping that in mind. A final decision will be taken bearing in mind the interests of all the Asian countries. We have a few options,”  Ehsan Mani told The Indian Express.

With the outbreak of coronavirus, the threat of the virus is looming over the sporting encounters all across Asia, with the dilemma over Tokyo Olympics already keeping the participating nations engaged in a debate. “Look, the Asia Cup is in September and we are in February. But if it (coronavirus outbreak) gets out of control, then we have to be prepared for any eventuality. So the matter could be discussed as a secondary issue,” Mani further said.

The previous edition of the Asia Cup was played in 2018 in UAE which was won by the Rohit Sharma led Indian team who defeated Bangladesh.
