On Day 5 of the 1st Test match between Team India and England, the two teams are also paying tribute to former India off-spinner Dilip Doshi by wearing black armbands. Doshi died in London on June 23, due to a heart attack. Throughout his career, he has played 33 Tests and 15 ODIs for India, capturing 114 and 22 wickets, respectively.

The notable debut by Doshi was the match against Australia in Chennai in which he took 8 wickets at 167 runs. He is among the nine Indian men to record a five-wicket haul on the opening day of a test.

Doshi also retired without much fuss, in the 1980s, mainly because of a disagreement with how the then-running of Indian cricket was being handled. When Doshi left, few noticed he was gone ever since he contributed to Indian cricket. This is now a show of commemoration to his legacy as both teams respect him.

The centuries of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul assisted India in putting up a score that could be defended in the first Test match. Nonetheless, the Indian team encountered the disadvantage as their captain, Shubman Gill, had to leave in the initial innings of Day 4. The instrumental stand between Rahul and Pant saw the match swing in India’sfavor, yet both batters were dismissed in that last session when attempting to speed things off, leaving England with a sizeable chase.

England openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley then saw it through the rest of the overs without loss, adding 21 runs. England has350 runs to go on the last day; nevertheless, they have all ten wickets left, which is an uphill task. India, in its turn, will be eager to attack early and obtain a series-opening win.

The last day is going to be exciting and both teams are well balanced and eager to lead the way. England will be under pressure either to develop a good partnership or to have India get quick wickets and speed up the game.
