Team India had a very great outing with the bat on Day 1 of the second Test at Lord’s, despite losing the toss. Indian openers fired and had a century partnership. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul both delivered great runs with the bat. Meanwhile, Aakash Chorpa believes Rishabh Pant will have to play a destructive knock on Day 2.

Former Indian cricketer previewed Day 2 of the Lord’s Test between India and England on his YouTube channel. In the video, he mentioned that Rishabh Plant’s dominant form can help India gain control in the match. Also, he discussed that conditions will favor Pant a lot.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said:

“Whatever has happened is gone, I feel Rishabh Pant will have to show his destructive form if India has to gain greater control. The situation in which England is there now, the second new ball has become slightly old and the pitch is also looking flat and most of the bowlers would have bowled quite a few overs by the time he comes to bat. We are seeing a full-house crowd, it will be a Friday and the heat of the contest will go up. I think it is going to be Rishabh Pant.”

Meanwhile, when Day 1 ended visitors were in a dominant position. India was at 276/3 with centurion KL Rahul and Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane on the crease. Notably, Rohit Sharma smashed brilliant 83 runs and Virat Kohli scored 42. However, Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara failed once again.

Aakash Chopra highlighted that once Pant and Jadeja gets out, India’s long tail will be dismissed very quickly. Chopra said :

“I have expectations of runs from Rishabh Pant and Jaddu but I also feel that the No.8 to No.11 can get dismissed for 25-30 runs. Once one out of Rishabh Pant or Jaddu gets out, the rest will fall in a jiffy. Mark Wood can come there and hit your stumps because he has quite a lot of pace.”
