Team India head coach Ravi Shastri along with other support staffs have been isolated after Shastri’s lateral flow test returned positive on Saturday at the Oval.

“The BCCI Medical Team has isolated Mr. Ravi Shastri, Head Coach, Mr. B. Arun, Bowling Coach, Mr. R. Sridhar, Fielding Coach, and Mr. Nitin Patel, Physiotherapist as a precautionary measure after Mr. Shastri’s lateral flow test returned positive last evening,” BCCI said in a statement.

“They have undergone RT-PCR testing and shall remain in the team hotel and not travel with Team India until confirmation from the medical team,” it added.

Meanwhile, the cricketers underwent two lateral tests – one last night and another this morning following which day 4 of the ongoing Test will go ahead as per the schedule.

The fourth Test is perfectly poised with India already extending their lead to 171 runs at the end of day 3. Rohit Sharma registered his maiden overseas Test hundred to lead India’s batting and was well-aided by Cheteshwar Pujara.

Both added over 100 runs together before Ollie Robinson removed Rohit and Pujara in the first over with the second new ball. However, India regrouped well under skipper Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.

India will hope to extend their lead on day 4 and bat all through the day to post a mammoth total for England.
