KL Rahul scored a defining 129 in the first innings to take India to 364 in th first innings. However, he could not repeat his feat in the second innings as he was out for a duck. India lost two quick wickets in the second innings in their quest to score a good second innings total at Lord’s. Rahul made a comeback to the Test side after scoring runs in the practice game. Injuries to Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar helped in the process.
In a video posted by the BCCI, KL Rahul spoke about his comeback to the Test team and his struggles when he was out of the side. He said that he had no one to blame when he was out of the side.
“Test cricket is close to my heart. Getting dropped from Test cricket was disappointing, it did hurt but had nobody to blame. I just waited for my opportunity, the way it came it to me, I think it was meant to be. I just enjoyed my batting, getting a 100 at Lord’s makes it more special, ” KL Rahul was quoted as saying to Rohit Sharma in a video posted on BCCI.TV.

Scoring a century in the first innings at Lord’s he went into the Lord’s Honours Board. Rahul further spoke about scoring a Test century at Lord’s and the feeling it generates.
“It is very special. Not because it was a hundred at Lord’s. That adds to the joy and excitement, I have been away from Test cricket for a couple of years now. I have grown up wanting to be a Test cricketer and playing the longest format. In the generation where I grew in, my father loves Test cricket and my coaches always wanted me to do well in the format, ” he added.

Meanwhile, the Indian team is struggling in the second innings with the openers out in their search for a good total.
