England skipper Joe Root scored his 21st Test ton and his three-figure score against India as his sie is looking for a hefty lead in the second innings. He batted like a rock in the second innings muck like he did in the first innings. The other batsmen in the lineup have contributed significantly which in turn has added up to the lead the side is building. Root’s ton is the first scored by the batsmen from both sides. Earlier, KL Rahul scored a valiant 84 in the first innings for India.
💯 for the English skipper as the crowd goes RRROOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTT 🔥

Joe Root walked out to bat at number four on day 3 and has looked solid from the start. With contributions from the rest of the batters, Root led from the front with the bat. He was finally dismissed on 109 with Jasprit Bumrah knicking him off the outside edge. This was Root’s fourth ton in whites this year.

This is the first hundred for Joe Root in England after 35 long months in Test cricket – and it is a special one.

Joe Root has gone past 1,000 Test runs for the year. England's next highest is Dom Sibley on 344.

Root’s wicket broke a 37-run stand between Sam Curran and himself. India took the new ball which immediately paid dividends. Root’s wicket came in the very first over after India opted for the new ball. During his innings, Root also became the first batsman to score over 1000 Test runs in this calenda year.
With the England tail still remaining, they still look promising to put up a good score.
