KL Rahul was India’s best performer with the bat in the first innings of the opening Test match against England at Trent Bridge Nottingham. Rahul smashed brilliant 84 runs before getting out on a beautiful delivery by fast bowler James Anderson. Meanwhile, Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria was impressed with opener KL Rahul’s performance.
Danish Kaneria uploaded a video on his Youtube Channel. In the video, he discussed how KL Rahul is cementing his place as a top-order batsman in the Indian Test team.
“The way KL Rahul applied himself was really superb. He batted exactly the way one has to in England. KL Rahul is apparently cementing his place at the top of the order in Test cricket. The ball was moving and there was also uneven bounce. But he played steadily and with confidence,” Danish Kaneria stated.
Notably, KL Rahul is not the first choice opener of team India, he only got the opportunity to open in absence of first-choice players. Adding to it Shubman Gill was all set to open the innings with Rohit Sharma. However, he faced a shin injury and was ruled out of the entire Test series. So in absence of Gill, Mayank Agarwal was handed over the responsibility to open the innings with Rohit. However ahead of the first match, during a practice session, he suffered an injury in the head which ruled him out of the 1st Test.
Jadeja is a type of player that cannot be left out: Danish Kaneria
Ravindra Jadeja shined with the bat in the first innings against England. Jadeja went to score brilliant 56 runs before losing his wicket in the hands of Ollie Robinson.
Former Pakistan Spinner Danish Kaneria believes Jadeja should be included in playing XI in all three formats. He stated:
“Whenever you make an ODI, T20I or Test team, Jadeja is a type of player that cannot be left out. He is a remarkable all-rounder. His brilliant knock of 56 and Rahul’s innings helped India take a first-innings lead,” Danish Kaneria concluded.
