Indian skipper Virat Kohli was targeted by former England cricketer David Lloyd during the first day’s play at Headingley. England bowled India out for 78 inside 40-odd overs. England openers then added an unbeaten 120-run on day 1 before umpires called stumps. Meanwhile, during the course of the day’s play a few moments became the talking point one of which was Kohli constantly questioning umpire’s decisions.

Ishant Sharma bowled a nine-ball over first up which included a few no-balls and a wide ball. Umpire Alex Wharf was correct with all his calls. However, the wide call from the umpires seemed to have disappointed Kohli. He walked upto the umpire and even questioned him about it.

Meanwhile, in his column for Daily Mail, David Llyod has slammed Virat Kohli for constantly questioning umpire’s decisions.

“Virat Kohli is one of the great players, but I find it so disappointing that he constantly questions umpires’ decisions. Ishant Sharma overstepped twice in his first over, then bowled an off-side wide, which was correctly called by Alex Wharf. From first slip, Kohli was clearly unhappy, and made his feelings known.”

The former England cricketer also kept a word on India’s batting performance on day 1. They registered one of their lowest totals on English soil.

India’s Problems Have Been In The Air: David Lloyd

“It looked straightforward: win the toss, have a bat. The pitch is a belter, and all India’s problems have been in the air. The ball swung from the start, and Anderson wasn’t going to miss that opportunity. When it got to 50-odd for five, I wonder if India’s bowlers started to think that they should have been out there with the ball in their hands instead of England. But 78 all out? It was hard to fathom.”

India are still leading the series 1-0 courtesy of their win at Lord’s in the second Test.
