The India-England third Test match began at Headingley, Leeds. Notably other than the toss nothing went in India’s favor as the Virat Kohli-led side was bowled out at the score of just 78 by the English bowling unit. Meanwhile, when India came to bowl they were unable to pick a wicket on the First Day’s play. Meanwhile, the New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham who is known for his fun social media presence came up with a funny tweet regarding Indian bowler Ishant Sharma.

Currently, India’s most experienced Test pacer Ishant Sharma was unable to find the rhythm in the 3rd Test. Ishant Sharma was struggling when he came to bowl his first over the match. Notably, Ishant took a total of three deliveries to bowl his first legal delivery of the match. He overstepped in his first two deliveries. Meanwhile, after the first legal delivery, he bowled a wide, and eventually finished off his opening over after bowling 9 deliveries. James Neesham wrote:

“Ishant obviously a big fan of @thehundred , keen to bowl 10 first up #IndvsEng.”

Notably, this was directed towards the new 100-ball tournament introduced by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). In The Hundred competition, a bowler is given the privilege to bowl 10 consecutive balls. However, the bowlers can choose whether they will 10 consecutive deliveries twice or a 5 ball burst for 4 times.

“They should have batted better” – Aakash Chopra on Indian batting unit

In the Leeds Test, no Indian batsmen touched the 20 runs mark. Notably, this was the first time it happened that batting in the first innings all Indian batsmen got out before the score of 20. Notably, Rohit Sharma was the highest run-scorer with 19 runs in India’s inning.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra reviewed the match on his YouTube channel and said India should have batted better. Chopra highlighted that Indian skipper Kohli is getting out repeatedly in the same manner. He said:

“They should have batted better. They keep on bowling away to Virat Kohli and once again Jimmy Anderson dismisses him. That’s also a problem because he has got out four times in this series, all the four times in almost identical fashion.”

The Cricketer-turned-commentator further pinpointed KL Rahul got out on the shot that he didn’t play in the entire series. Also, Chopra highlighted the mistakes Cheteshwar Pujara is making. Aakash Chopra asserted:

KL Rahul’s shot was one he had not played in the entire series, against the second new ball, yes but definitely not against the first new ball. It was a pitched-up delivery, eyes widened, and saw a four, threw his bat, got an outside edge, and out. Pujara has not been batting well. Let’s be honest, the way he is getting out, the feet are not moving, and is going towards the ball with his hands. Pujara’s specialty was that even if the feet were not moving, his hands were near the body but he is going away from the body and the pressure is going on increasing.”
