Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant always does something on the field which fans certainly enjoy on social media. Meanwhile, this time he did something unexpected on the Day 4 of the England-India Headingley, Leeds Test match.
Team India had an eventful second innings batting session. They were bowled out inside the first session from being 215/2 on resumption. On day 3 Rohit Sharma batted exceptionally and scored his half-century, although his partner KL Rahul was seen struggling in both innings. Meanwhile when openers got out Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli batted extremely well and India ended Day 3 on a good note. However, on Day 4 Indian batting saw a major collapse as they went 215-2 to 278-10 during Day 4 to eventually lose the match against Joe Root’s England by an inning and 76 runs.

Rishabh Pant Finds Criticism Due to Run Of Low Scores
Talking, about Rishabh Pant’s performance he failed in both innings. When India got out on 78 he scored 2 in the first innings. Meanwhile, when Virat Kohli got out he got the opportunity to carry forward India’s innings in the second innings. At a point in time, Ajinkya Rahane was batting alongside Rishabh Pant. While Ajinkya Rahane was on his batting stance ready to face Anderson, Pant on the non-striker’s end was busy doing shadow batting practice. However, Pant sheepishly got back into the non-strikers’ end when the veteran English pacer delivered the ball. In the end, he got out after scoring only 1 run.

“Rishabh Pant doesn’t have a proper technique to play in England”: Salman Butt
Former Pakistan captain has come down hard on Rishabh Pant after his batting failure in Tests against England. Butt feels that 23-year-old wicketkeeper doesn’t have the good technique to survive in English conditions. He stated:
“Rishabh Pant doesn’t have a proper technique to play in England conditions. He is trying to come out of the crease on almost every ball and he can’t be successful Test batsman with such technique. He should develop some patience with better defensive technique.
“He was clearly playing with a lot of confusion in mind and his shots were half-hearted. When the ball was going with an angle, he was trying to play away from his body, which he actually should have left. There are chances that he will get out in slips,” concluded Salman Butt.
Now the 5-match Test series is leveled at 1-1. Joe Root’s men and Virat Kohli-led India will be heading to Kennington Oval for the 4th Test which will begin on 2nd September 2021.
