Anshul Kamboj made his Test debut for India in the 4th Test against England at the Old Trafford, Manchester. The 24-year-old bowler was handed his cap by Deep Dasgupta as he started his international Test career. Kamboj has been known for his skiddy run-up and capability to produce sharp bounce which has been the characteristic of his bowling.
Kamboj’s road to the Test debut was built following considerable performances in first-class cricket. He has claimed 79 wickets in just 24 matches for Haryana and he has shown character with the bat too, particularly, putting up for an unbeaten 149-run symphony with Tanush Kotian to rescue India A to a drawn game in Nottingham.

Anshul Kamboj came into the limelight last season in the Ranji Trophy, where he bagged 10 wickets in a game against Kerala. This made him the sixth Indian to score this in a first-class match. At the beginning of the season, he was named player of the tournament after picking 16 wickets in the Duleep Trophy. His phenomenal performances got him listed in the India A team in two unofficial Tests.
During the second match in Northampton, Kamboj took four wickets, two in the course of one over when taking up the second innings. His wicket-taking capacity during the vital moments of the game has been tremendous and he is destined to become a lead bowler of India in the future.
Kamboj has brought a new phase to his cricketing career with his debut. His performances will be under scanner and the player will be eyeing making an indelible mark on the team. The young fast bowler can be a major contributor to India and it would be interesting to watch how he would rise to the occasion during his career days.
