Indian cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul made a historical record in Headingley, Leeds, with their opening combination. They set the record (39 years old) of the highest opening partnership at Leeds by an Indian combination, beating that record, which was formerly achieved by Sunil Gavaskar and Kris Srikkanth. Gavaskar and Srikkanth were involved in a 64-run stand in the first innings of the historic Test of 1986, which they recorded as a record and remained unbeaten for ages. The association between Jaiswal and Rahul made a milestone in Indian cricket.
The opening partnership that Jaiswal and Rahul had was the second opening partnership at the place with an Indian pair to get to higher than half a century. The record-breaking stand will long be in the known and it shall be interesting to know how the rest of the team will follow up on such a good start.
