India’s batter Sai Sudharsan was seen engaging in some unique pre-batting routines ahead of his innings on Day 3 of the first Test against England on Sunday, June 22. The opening match of the five-Test series is being held at Headingley in Leeds.

Sony Sports Network shared a clip on their X (formerly Twitter) account, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at Sudharsan’s focused preparation during India’s second innings. In the video, he is seen carefully observing the ball as he moves it side to side and up and down with his hand.

Sai Sudharsan Contributes 30 Runs In India’s Second Innings On Day 3 Of 1st Test

Sai Sudharsan made his Test debut at Headingley this week, taking up the important No. 3 spot in India’s batting order. His first innings was a brief one, as he was dismissed for a four-ball duck despite walking in with India already well-placed at 91/0 in 24.5 overs.

In the second innings, however, the Tamil Nadu batter showed better composure. He scored 30 runs off 48 balls after India lost an early wicket in Yashasvi Jaiswal (4). Sudharsan struck four boundaries and shared a 66-run partnership with KL Rahul, looking comfortable at the crease.

His promising innings was brought to an end in the 21st over by Ben Stokes. KL Rahul (47*) and Shubman Gill (6*) remained unbeaten, guiding India to 90/2 in 23.5 overs before rain halted play for the day. India now leads by 96 runs, with two days remaining in the match.

Earlier in the day, England resumed their innings at 209/3 with Ollie Pope and Harry Brook in the middle. Pope went on to complete his century before being dismissed, while Brook narrowly missed out on one, scoring 99 off 112 balls.

He received solid support from Jamie Smith (40), Chris Woakes (38), and others in the lower order as England posted a total of 465, handing India a slim six-run first-innings lead.
