England Announce 13-Men Squad For The First Two Tests Against New Zealand

England Men’s selection panel announced a 13-men strong squad for the first two Test matches of the series against New Zealand. James Anderson and Stuart Broad make their comeback to the Test squad. The first game of the series would be played at Lords starting on 2nd June.

Ben Stokes was keen to have both his experienced bowlers back in the test team. This series is going to be the first big test for Ben Stokes as Test Captain. New Zealand will tour England for a three-match Test series in June. It’s going to be a high cracker series with lots of excitement. England have made several changes from the test team which played in West Indies.

In the batting department, Ollie Pope is making his comeback after missing the test series in the West Indies. He is expected to bat at the No.3 batting position for England. Zak Crawley and Alex Lee would take the opening position for England in this team. Dan Lawrence has been excluded from the squad.

England squad: Ben Stokes (C), Joe Root, James Anderson, Johny  Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Foakes (WK), Jack Leach, Alex Lees, Craig Overton, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts.

Ollie Robinson and Chris Woakes miss out from England squad due to injury

The exclusion of Ollie Robinson comes as a surprise to many. However, it is said that Ollie Robinson is not yet 100% match fit for the Test series. Chris Woakes has also not been included in the Test team. Craig Overton is going to take the role of 3rd pacer in absence of some of the key bowlers. While Jack Leach would be the leading spinner.

A few days back, Ben Stokes revealed that Joe Root is expected to bat at the No.4 position, while the captain himself would take the No.6 position. Ben Foakes is going to be the main wicketkeeper for England. Youngsters Harry Brook and Mathew Potts also got their maiden call for the Test team.
