For the first two Ashes Tests against Australia, England has named an identical 16-man squad from the group currently playing Ireland in the one-off Test. From June 16 on, Edgbaston in Birmingham will host the start of the Ashes urn battle.
James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, and captain Ben Stokes all had some injury-related concerns. However, each of the three has made good progress and hasn’t experienced any recurrence of their injuries.
Josh Tongue, a 25-year-old player who debuted during the test against Ireland, is also a member of the team. He made an immediate impression with his 4/56 statistics in the game’s ongoing second inning.
With Jack Leach as their lone specialist spinner, England has chosen up to seven pace bowlers. James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, and Mark Wood, who make up England’s pace trio, should be re-added to the starting XI for the opening Ashes Test even though they are not participating in the current Ireland Test.

This also includes a 3-0 home victory over New Zealand, a series victory over South Africa, and a 2-1 victory over New Zealand at home. At some point in 2022, Stokes and Co. As well as their Test series in Pakistan, which they won 3-0, making them the first team in cricket history to completely dominate the home team.
The two-Test series between England and New Zealand in 2023 got off to a similar start, with England crushing the Kiwis by 267 runs in the first Test before falling short by one run in the second.
While this was going on, Australia dominated the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for 2021-23, winning 11 of their 19 Test matches and taking first place in the standings. Prior to the Ashes series, which begins on June 7, they will face off against India in the WTC final at Kensington Oval.
