Eoin Morgan’s England is currently topping the ICC T20I rankings heading into the T20I series against India. They are unbeaten in their last eight games in the format and have grown from strength to strength. While speaking at the press-conference ahead of the T20I opener, the England skipper has credited IPL for England’s prowess in the format in recent times. He said that the team has massively benefitted from the IPL and the experience holds them in good stead ahead of the World T20 later this year in India.
Eoin Morgan said that though the players have been criticised for choosing IPL over Test cricket, there is no denying the fact that the league has worked in favour of the cricketers.
“Yeah, we have benefitted from it (the IPL) massively and we are thankful for it and it has been a huge part in our development, particularly in the 50-over campaign towards 2019 World Cup,” Morgan said at a virtual press conference.

On the eve of the series opener, he was asked about the England players being criticised for playing in the IPL. In response, he cited his own example and said that he has learned a lot from the league.
Playing IPL Is Huge Experience: Eoin Morgan
“I think, it (the IPL experience) is huge. I think even regardless of the players involved in the World Cup, the development process that they go through just by being there, rubbing shoulders with the best in the world, being exposed to the pressures of being an overseas player in the biggest tournament in the world, priceless in many ways,” he explained.
He further said that they will continue playing this fantastic league and get the best use of the conditions ahead of the World T20.
England on paper look as strong as India and are even tagged as favorites for the T20I series. The prominent reason for England’s success in white-ball cricket is their gun batting line-up. In the last few years, England has completely transformed their white-ball batting as they now only focus to hit the ball out of the ground.
