England skipper Eoin Morgan said that the team had no room and was very very strong at the moment when asked about dropping Alex Hales for the upcoming T20I series against England. Eoin Morgan and his men are in India for the limited overs-leg of the tour. Their preparations are in full swing at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad where all the five T20Is will be played. The first of them will be played on March 12, Friday.

Alex Hales was axed from England’s 50-over World Cup squad for failing a second test for use of recreational drugs. He last played in national colors before England became World Champions.

Alex Hales Remains Out Of The Squad: Eoin Morgan

“Our position on Alex still remains the same. He’s out of the squad. The squad is very strong at the moment. You look at the strength of our squad at the moment and the areas that we’re trying to improve… one area we don’t struggle for players, it’s probably in the top three,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Morgan as saying.

He further said that he is not currently in the squad and it is very difficult to get back into. Hales was in supreme form in the last BBL season, however. He is also England’s highest individual scorer in T20Is for the Three Lions, 116* against Sri Lanka in the 2014 World T20.

“He’s not in the squad and the squad is very difficult to get back into. The player that he is has never been in doubt. Could he return ahead of the World Cup? Only time will tell. But time is a great healer,” he added.

Happy With Ben Stokes: Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan also cleared the air regarding where all-rounder Ben Stokes will bat in the upcoming five-match series against India. He did not have a good Test series and will look to make amends in the shorter format.

“I’m happy with the structure I have. Ben has done really well for us there [in the middle order] and hopefully, that will continue,” Morgan said.
