Former government official Vivek Atray shared a cool story about ex-Indian cricket skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Atray spilled the beans during a chat on Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out podcast, recalling a laid-back encounter with Dhoni more than ten years ago in Chandigarh. He mentioned finding Dhoni chilling with his pals and watching the cartoon Hanu-Man on TV. Atray highlighted Dhoni’s down-to-earth nature and chill vibes during the meet-up.
“I went to meet Dhoni when I was working in the Chandigarh administration. He was staying at Hotel Mountview in Chandigarh. He told me to drop by his room,” Atray said. He was hanging out with his buddies, catching up on the Hanu-Man cartoon on TV. This was about 12 years back when he was leading an IPL team. He was so relaxed. We chatted, took some pics, and then he got back to watching Hanu-Man.”
Dhoni’s Simple Pleasures & CSK Leadership Shift
This unexpected peek into Dhoni’s life sheds light on his lesser-known side, showing how he finds joy in simple things despite being one of India’s most famous cricketers. Dhoni, who might be in his final IPL season, made a big decision before the 2024 season kicked off. He stepped down as captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), passing the reins to Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Under Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s leadership, CSK have been doing well, winning four out of six matches in the tournament so far. Despite nursing a leg injury, Dhoni continues to motivate his team with his performance on the field. In this 17th season of the IPL, Dhoni has scored 59 runs in four innings without getting out yet. He gave fans one of the most memorable moments of his IPL career by smashing Hardik Pandya for three consecutive sixes at Wankhede Stadium recently, finishing at 20*(4).
