IPL 2024: Rinku Singh Plays Down Lack Of Batting Chances
Rinku Singh

Rajasthan Royals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in a high-scoring thriller played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 16th April 2024. It was an amazing match that went right down to the last ball. Sunil Narine showed his class with a superb 109 with 13 fours and 6 sixes that put pressure on RR bowling. Rinku Singh scored a quickfire cameo with 20 off 9 balls which helped KKR to post 223 for 6 in 20 overs.

During his knock, he smashed 2 sixes and a four that put enough pressure on bowlers. Rinku Singh did not get enough chances to bat more deliveries in this year’s IPL so far. The explosive left-handed batter faced 51 balls in 6 games so far with a strike rate of 162.75. Singh looked in sublime touch so far and put bowlers under pressure in whatever chances he got to bat this tournament.

Singh did not field in the Rajasthan Royals innings due to a niggle. Jos Buttler took the charge and put on an excellent display of batting, remaining not out on 107 off 60 balls with 9 fours and 6 sixes. His knock helped RR win the match by 2 wickets. He is one of the contenders to be in the T20 squad for the World Cup to be played in the West Indies and the United States of America.

“That day was my day. It was a very good feeling (5 sixes in 2023). But, in this season, I have not been able to get a lot of chances to bat. The top-order batters are doing very well, for instance, Narine today. Whatever opportunities I get, I will try to score in them,” Rinku Singh told the press on Tuesday in Kolkata.

KKR bowling struggled in yesterday’s match

Kolkata Knight Riders struggled against Rajasthan Royals in a superb batting paradise. Mitchell Starc was very expensive giving away 50 runs from 4 overs. Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakravarthy took 2 wickets each but struggled with their rhythm. Sunil Narine was the best bowler on display for KKR with 2 for 30 in 4 overs.

KKR would look to return to winning ways as they face RCB on 21st April at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
