Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal eagerly sought to meet Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan after the IPL 2024 match between the two teams at Eden Gardens on Tuesday, April 16.

In a video shared by RR on Instagram, Yashasvi was captured asking KKR players to assist him in meeting Shah Rukh. He said:

“Shah Rukh sir se milaao yaar!(Someone help me meet Shah Rukh sir).”

Shah Rukh Khan embraced Yashasvi Jaiswal warmly and agreed to his request for a photo. Despite KKR’s disappointing loss to RR, Shah Rukh displayed kindness towards the opposition.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s recent performances are raising concerns

While RR will be delighted to have secured a last-ball victory in their substantial chase of 224 against KKR, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s inconsistent form is becoming worrisome as the tournament progresses.

Jaiswal appeared promising with his 19 runs, but just as it seemed he was set for a substantial innings, an attempted flick shot against the swing led to his dismissal caught at first slip. This dismissal epitomizes Jaiswal’s season thus far; he has shown potential but has struggled to capitalize on it.

In IPL 2024, Jaiswal has only managed to score 121 runs in seven matches, averaging a disappointing 17.29. Despite a decent strike rate of 145.78, he hasn’t been able to capitalize on numerous quick starts.

Following his outstanding 625-run IPL 2023 season, this season was expected to be crucial for Jaiswal to demonstrate his consistency. The 22-year-old has been partnering with Rohit Sharma in the Indian T20I team as an opener.

However, with the presence of Hardik Pandya and Rinku Singh as alternatives, Jaiswal’s poor form may risk his spot in India’s T20 World Cup XI.
