Young all-rounder Rajasthan Royals Riyan Parag has showered heaps of praise on the Mumbai Indians’ pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Parag, who is into his third IPL season will look to leave a mark in front of the national selectors when IPL 2021 commences on April 9 with defending champions Mumbai Indians locking horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The youngster from Assam came into the picture in the 2019 season and has been playing a crucial role for his team since then. In the last season of IPL which took place in the UAE, he featured in 12 games for the Royals and scored 86 runs. The youngster is currently in his mandatory quarantine period before he joins his squad to prepare for the cash-rich league.

Facing Jasprit Bumrah is a nightmare – Riyan Parag

Amid his seven-day quarantine, Riyan Parag took part in a question-answer session on social media to kill his boredom. During the session, he named the toughest bowler he has come up against and it’s none other than – Jasprit Bumrah.

“That’d be very easy. That would be Jasprit Bumrah. I think he is the world’s best. Facing him and scoring against him is a nightmare,” Riyan said.

Going further, Riyan Parag also revealed that he likes to play against the Eoin Morgan-led Kolkata Knight Riders the most. He also said that he admires Virat Kohli a lot and often seen showering praise on the talismanic run-scorer.

“My favourite IPL team to play against would be Kolkata (Knight Riders) because first, I like playing in Eden. And second, I think they really have top quality quickies.

“My role model has always been Virat Kohli. I admire him as a player of course, but even more as a human being. So, it’s Virat Kohli,” Riyan Parag said.

Riyan Parag had a terrific performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy captaining Assam in the T20 tournament. He amassed 261 runs at a strike rate of 141.84 and picked up five wickets and will look to keep up his good run in the IPL.

Rajasthan Royals begin their campaign on April 12 against Punjab Kings (previously known as Kings XI Punjab).
