Two former Indian cricketers Irfan Pathan and Suresh Raina were on show for IPL 2022 tie between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). It was then Pathan pulled off a prank on his former teammate which left everyone in splits.

Discussing the match between PBKS and KKR, Irfan and Raina were in a conversation for broadcaster Star Sports. As Irfan said that PBKS were the ‘favourites’ going into the contest while explaining how strong the franchise is this season, Raina reminded everyone that Pathan has played for the franchise in the past.

It was when Suresh Raina spoke of Preity Zinta’s ownership of the franchise that Irfan got upset. The former India all-rounder looked disappointed as he said, “female angle lana zaroori nahi hota (it’s not always important to include a female angle)”.

Irfan Pathan then went away from the recording area, expressing his frustration at the comments made by Raina. The presenters asked Raina to speak to Irfan and get him back on the set. While Raina was bringing Irfan back to the shooting area, the latter broke into laughter and revealed that it was all an April Fools Day prank.

“Don’t lie and say April Fool. Plant a tree and say April Cool. Love you too @IrfanPathan bhai, All the best for your movie,” he tweeted.

Irfan Pathan responded with a heart emoji before also tweeting: “You know I love you brother @ImRaina“.

“The future of Kolkata is bright under his supervision” – Irfan Pathan on Shreyas Iyer

Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan spoke highly on Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer, saying that the franchise has a bright prospect under his leadership.

Incidentally, Iyer-led Kolkata have made a good start to the campaign winning two of three games. Speaking on Star Sports, Pathan said:

“Shreyas Iyer is a brilliant captain. Remember, he picked up captaincy midway through the season like Rohit Sharma who was named Mumbai Indians’ captain halfway through the season in IPL 2013. For Delhi Capitals, Shreyas started well under the supervision of coach Ricky Ponting and he kept improving his decision-making skills in his first stint as captain.”

He concluded:

“But his captaincy moves are coming to the fore prominently in this season and we will talk more about it as the tournament progresses. He’s a players’ captain. He backs the players at every turn and which is a good sign of a leader. The future of Kolkata is bright under his supervision and we’ve seen glimpses of it in the first couple of games.”

KKR is currently at the top of the points table with two wins from three games.
