Team India suffered a mini-collapse after a strong start in the first Test against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. They lost their batting pillars Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara to soft dismissals against debutant Todd Murphy.
After being asked to bowl first, Team India pulled off a great bowling performance. They bowled Australia out for 177 runs, on the back of Ravindra Jadeja’s five-wicket haul. In response, Rohit Sharma got the team off to a great start, however, KL Rahul couldn’t get going. Team India lost their night-watchman, Ravichandran Ashwin for 23 runs.
Cheteshwar Pujara walked out to partner Rohit Sharma at the crease, but couldn’t make much of an impact. He was dismissed by Todd Murphy for just seven runs, in a disappointing fashion. Pujara tried to play the sweep shot against a legside delivery, but it took the top edge and flew straight to Scott Boland.
Virat Kohli too followed Pujara back into the hut soon. He tried to glance at a poor leg-stump deliver from Murphy. However, given the low bounce, Kohli failed to control the shot. Wicket-keeper Alex Carey took a comfortable low catch to end Kohli’s stay at the crease. Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli’s soft dismissals left the fans disappointed.

Team India lose half the side, trail by nine runs
Debutant Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed by Nathan Lyon off a cracking delivery in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur. Team India was trailing by nine runs, losing five wickets with 168 runs on the board. Todd Murphy has four wickets to his name so far, while Nathan Lyon has one. Ravindra Jadeja joined Rohit Sharma at the crease, eyeing to take the lead for India.
