The Chennai Super Kings are playing against the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 7 of the Indian Premier League 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Ravindra Jadeja-led team posted 210 runs on the board, in the first innings.

Wicket-keeper batter Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s brilliant cameo innings, batting lower down the order powered the team to a huge score. Dhoni came out to bat in the second last over of the innings, with 189 runs on the board. He took on Avesh Khan from the very first delivery he faced.

Avesh bowled a short outside off stump delivery, which Dhoni slammed with a flat-bat over extra cover for a six. This was followed by a boundary, over the backward point area. The former CSK skipper smashed a boundary on the last delivery of the innings, to take his team to 210 runs.

MS Dhoni remained unbeaten on 16 runs off six deliveries, at a strike rate of 266.67.

Earlier in the Robin Uthappa gave the Chennai Super Kings a great start, scoring fifty off 27 balls, including eight boundaries, and a six. All-rounder Shivam Dube too shined with the bat, as scored 30-ball 49.

Other Chennai Super Kings players like Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali, and Ravindra Jadeja also made valuable contributions with the bat. Meanwhile, Avesh Khan, Andrew Tye, and Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets each for the Lucknow Super Giants.

During the course of the innings, Mahendra Singh also completed 7000 plus T20 runs. He joined an elite list, consisting of the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, and Robin Uthappa. The 40-year old impressed everyone once again with his vintage batting avatar.
