Former Chennai Super Kings and Team India all-rounder Vijay Shankar announced his retirement from the IPL and domestic cricket on Friday, May 22. However, in a long message shared on social media, he said that he will continue playing cricket in other formats or leagues.
Shankar represented India in 21 white-ball matches between 2018 and 2019, including 12 ODIs and 9 T20Is. The biggest moment of his international career came when he was picked in India’s squad for the 2019 ODI World Cup.
He played three matches in the tournament, scoring 58 runs at an average of 29 and taking two wickets at an average of 11. Although the 35-year-old never scored a fifty for India in limited-overs cricket, he ended his international career with decent averages of 31.85 in ODIs and 25.25 in T20Is.
