Despite having a modest budget of ₹17.75 crore, Mumbai Indians had limited expectations for the IPL 2024 auction, aiming to secure backups and address any minor weaknesses in the team.
However, the auction day brought joy as they successfully added promising young pacers, including Gerald Coetzee and Dilshan Madushanka, to their squad.
Mumbai Indians (MI) made another significant addition by signing Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara, known for his sling action similar to Lasith Malinga. The legendary “Slinga Malinga” expressed excitement about these new talents joining the Blue and Gold of MI.

Lasith Malinga, one of the IPL’s greatest overseas players, enjoyed a legendary career with MI, securing four titles. After serving as the bowling coach for the Rajasthan Royals for a couple of seasons, Malinga is set to share his expertise with the promising pacers in MI’s squad.
Mumbai Indians are optimistic that the legendary speedster can impart his coaching skills and pass on his valuable experience to the new generation of players.
