Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, ex-spinner Harbhajan Singh, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, and IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal have been confirmed as the representatives of the BCCI’s Full Members ahead of the board’s AGM and general elections scheduled for September 28.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has named Sourav Ganguly, a former BCCI president, as its representative for the AGM at the board’s headquarters, while Harbhajan Singh will represent the Punjab Cricket Association. Meanwhile, Saikia will represent the Assam Cricket Association, and Dhumal will represent the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.
According to the list released by electoral officer AK Joti on Saturday, BCCI treasurer Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has been named as the representative of the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh, while the board’s joint secretary Rohan Gauns Dessai will represent the Goa state association.
Shukla, Naik And Jaitley Named State Representatives For BCCI Elections
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla will serve as the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association’s representative, with Sanjay Naik and Rohan Jaitley being nominated by the Mumbai Cricket Association and the Delhi and District Cricket Association, respectively. As per the election schedule, state associations were required to submit their representatives by 8:00 pm on Friday, September 12.
Following this, the BCCI released the draft electoral roll on Saturday evening. Any objections to the names in the draft electoral roll can be submitted on September 14 and 15 between 11 am and 3 pm. After reviewing and resolving any objections, the final electoral roll will be published on September 19.
The upcoming BCCI AGM will primarily focus on electing a new president, a post that has remained vacant since Roger Binny stepped down earlier this month. Although elections are officially scheduled for all key positions, they are essentially expected to be held only for the president’s role, as the other office-bearers are likely to continue in their current positions.
Saikia and Bhatia were elected as the board’s secretary and treasurer, respectively, in January this year, while Dessai took charge as the joint secretary in March. The BCCI had informed the state associations about the AGM date on September 6.
