India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir remained optimistic despite his team trailing 1-2 in the series following the fourth Test against England. Speaking at India House in London, Gambhir stated that the standard of cricket displayed throughout the series was something that would make everyone proud.

India managed to secure a hard-fought draw in the Manchester Test, even after being under significant pressure on Days 4 and 5. After conceding a massive 669 runs to England, the Indian side responded with a remarkable second-innings fightback.

Centuries from Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar helped India stay in contention in the series.

“Touring this part of the world has always been challenging because of the history between the two countries, which can never be forgotten,” said Gambhir during his speech at the India House in London.

“Whenever we have toured the UK, the kind of support we have got, we cherish every bit of it. We never take anything for granted,” he added.

Gambhir Defends Gill-Led Team’s Effort In Mixed England Tour Amid Criticism

Gautam Gambhir praised Shubman Gill’s Indian team for their efforts during the five-week tour of England, stating that their performances have made cricket fans proud. India had a mixed series, losing at Headingley, winning in Birmingham, and then losing again at Lord’s. Their fielding has been strongly criticised, and many have also questioned Gambhir’s team choices.

“Last five weeks have been really exciting for both countries with the kind of cricket that has been on display, which I’m sure has made every cricket lover proud,” Gambhir said.

The Indian team got a warm welcome in London ahead of the must-win fifth Test, with the series standing 2-1 in England’s favour.

“Both the teams have thrown a lot of punches and have fought for every inch. We have got one more week to go, one final push to make and one more opportunity to make our country and people out here proud,” said Gambhir.
