Team India skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma have been instrumental in India’s dominant run in the limited-overs cricket across the globe. They have scored tons of run in the top-order to take out the pressure from the batters to follow. Meanwhile, there has been a debate going around about who is the best among the two and recently, former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir picked his candidate.
Kohli has been the most consistent cricketer on the planet. Scoring runs is a routine for the talismanic cricketer from Delhi, who does it for fun. On the other hand, Rohit is known for converting the starts into big hundreds and will kill the opposition in a split second with his destructive batting. He had a spectacular last season where he smacked five centuries in the ICC World Cup 2019 – the only batsman to achieve the feat.

Quite evidently, who is the best among Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma is the hottest debate in world cricket at present. Recently, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir joined the bandwagon and picked Rohit over the India skipper as the best limited-overs batsman. The former cricketer further highlighted an important aspect which tilts the equation in Rohit’s favour.
“….for me white-ball cricket is all about impact. Kohli will end up getting many more runs than Rohit, and Kohli is among the greatest right now, but Rohit has an edge over Kohli because of the impact he has,” Gambhir said to Aaj Tak.

“I think he (Rohit) is the best white-ball cricketer in the world right now. He is not the greatest overall but at the moment he is the best. He is the only player to have hit 3 ODI double hundreds, 5 World Cup hundreds (in one edition) and he is also the only player, who once gets past 100-run mark, people say that he missed a double century,” Gautam Gambhir added.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is way ahead of Rohit Sharma in terms of runs (11,867 as opposed to Rohit’s 9,115) but the Mumbai cricketer is only 21 behind Kohli’s run-tally (2,794) in the shortest formats.
