Gautam Gambhir, the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), surprised reporters by offering them free sweets before the Bengali New Year. This sweet gesture happened before KKR’s match against Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens. After answering some tough questions about KKR’s performance this season, Gambhir happily shared sweets with the journalists inside the press box.
He even posted a video of the moment on his social media accounts with the caption “Shubho Noboborsho to everyone.” Gambhir, who led KKR to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014, returned to the team as a mentor after spending two seasons with Lucknow Super Giants. During his time with Lucknow, KKR had lost all three matches against them at Eden Gardens.

Before the match against Lucknow, Gambhir expressed that his past with the team doesn’t affect the game. He said, “It is a new day, a new start. What difference does it make what has happened in the last two years? It really makes no difference. We start from scratch.” Gambhir also added, “All of us are really looking forward to the game tomorrow. You know, it is a quality side. But we are a quality side as well.”
